The Apprentice (Ex Pat)

Director Ali Abbasi adapted many already written biographies into a dramatized biopic about young Donald J. Trump. Starting in 1973, the late twentysomething expands his father Fred Trump's real estate business. New York looks dirty and dilapidated. The ambitious Donald (Sebastian Stan) wants to improve the city to become rich and famous. In doing so, he is assisted by his mentor: the notorious and sleazy lawyer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong). Their cunning methods to deal and their “rise to stardom,” with accompanying excesses, catches the eye. But it also becomes clear how their large egos create (mutual) tension.
